A real drive on macOS
Xdrive mounts your cloud as /Volumes/XDrive using Apple's FSKit. Final Cut, Photoshop, Terminal and Xcode read and write it like an external disk.
For macOS 15.4 and later
A cloud drive right in Finder.
Almost no space on your Mac.
Completely free, no ads. Apple silicon.
Zero SSD Footprint
Every file shows up in Finder, but it only downloads when you open it. The cache cleans itself up as your disk fills, so a 256 GB MacBook can open an entire 4K video library.
Feels like a real disk
Xdrive mounts your cloud as /Volumes/XDrive using Apple's FSKit. Final Cut, Photoshop, Terminal and Xcode read and write it like an external disk.
Copy a share link, keep a file on this Mac or ask someone to send you files, right from the Finder menu.
Large files open piece by piece. Videos play while the rest keeps downloading.
Pin the folders you need offline. Xdrive never evicts pinned files.
Drag a file onto the Xdrive icon: it uploads and a share link lands on your clipboard.
A Spotlight-style panel searches your whole cloud tree, including files you have never downloaded.
Xdrive measures network latency and backs off, so video calls stay smooth while large files upload.
Hit save and you're done. Xdrive writes to a local cache and uploads in the background.
Use Cloudflare R2 storage with no egress fees, or connect the Google Drive account you already have.
Zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption
Files are encrypted on your Mac, 1 MiB block by block, before they leave it. File names are encrypted too. The server stores locked data and never holds the key.
Free
No paid tiers, no ads, no locked features. You only pay the cloud provider you pick for storage, and the first 10 GB on Cloudflare R2 are free too.

Storage is billed by Cloudflare directly ($0.015/GB/month, first 10 GB free, no egress fees). With Google Drive, your existing Google One plan applies.
Sync apps usually copy files into a folder on your Mac. Xdrive mounts your cloud as its own drive, downloads files only when you open them, and encrypts data end to end before it leaves your Mac.
macOS 15.4 or later on Apple silicon. Xdrive is built on FSKit, Apple's new file system framework, so no kernel extension is needed.
Recently opened files and folders pinned with "Keep on This Mac" still open. Files you save while offline are queued and upload automatically once you're back online.
When you turn on encryption, Xdrive gives you a 56-character recovery code. Keep it somewhere safe: the server never holds your key, so it is the only way back into your data.
Xdrive uploads in the background and slows down when it sees latency rise, so browsing and video calls stay smooth.
Yes. The app is free with every feature included. The only possible cost is Cloudflare R2 storage beyond 10 GB, or your Google One plan if you use Google Drive. Xdrive checks for updates and lets you know when a new version is out.
